The Frithsden Beeches is a large area of woodland which is an important area of conservation in Hertfordshire and contains large and interesting Beech tree woodlands that are often used in films.

The first of our routes is a very short but pretty stroll into the Beeches and around the golf course area of the woodlands. Please be respectful of the golfers on the walk and of course look out for flying balls!

The second route option is basically a longer walk that takes you deeper into the Frithsden Beeches woodlands.

As well as enjoying the twisted woodlands with their ancient Beech trees, there is also a large open section of walking on the route that offers some more sunshine, lovely views and variety to your walk.

The maps takes you to Berkhamsted golf club, however the carpark for the walk is just past the club ...

The third route option is basically an extension to the first walk for those of you that want to spend more time exploring this area of majestic woodlands.

The extra distance on this route takes you past the Frithsden Beeches and on an extra loop of walking around the woodlands of Berkhamstead Common.

As with most woodland walks, these routes can be muddy in wet weather, so please make sure you have the appropriate footwear for your adventure.

Bench to sit on with beautiful views just before end if Walk 3 if youre taking a packed lunch. Golfers everywhere as we went on beautiful sunny day so was packed. Gorgeous varied walk

Great walk, lovely views. It was very muddy in places but it has been raining for a few weeks now. We met quite a few other dog walkers and horse riders enjoying the walk too!

This is a pleasant walk mainly through woods but with some good views on the return journey. Great this time of year (Autumn). All three of these walks are pretty much perfect for dogs although you are alongside a golf course for a while so dogs need to be under control, which I’m sad to say a few were not. The paths were clear and obvious but look as though they could get muddy in bad weather. Whilst there was quite a few car spaces at the start, it did seem very busy late morning/lunch time.

We loved this walk and have already returned since discovering it a few weeks ago. Great mixture of open grassy trails and woodland with lovely views. Easy, free parking and map was entirely accurate. The perfect sunny weekend dog walk! Thank you
