This is a nice and simple family-friendly short pub walk in the countryside to the south of Flamstead. You can expect some nice open countryside with nice views on this route, and a great choice of two lovely pubs in the village to enjoy after your exercise.

Lovely walk , very quiet when i did it on a sunday morning. Passed several fields with horses in that dogs could get into if they are chasers but also lots of areas they coukd be off lead without worrying . Recommended and will definitely do again

Walk information
This second route option is a simple open countryside walk between the two villages of Flamstead and Markyate. The paths between the villages are long straight paths through sweeping open farmland, so it's not really a varied walk, but more of a great walk to get some peace and quiet, fresh air and exercise before visiting any of the lovely pubs in either of the villages.

This final route option from Flamstead is an epic circular adventure in the pretty countryside to the west of the village. You can expect lovely views, lots of fresh air and exercise, some nice pubs in the villages of Flamstead and Markyate and a walk through the pretty grounds of Beechwood Park school.

We returned to Flamstead for Walk 4. Thoroughly enjoyed this one on a sunny spring morning. It goes out a totally different direction to walk 3 so that you’re not duplicating anything. Two of the fields didn’t appear to have the footpath through the middle kept clear, so may cause an issue when the crops have grown. Mainly field walking but varied enough to keep it interesting. Think we were a week or so too early for the bluebells which was a shame. After a little under 5 miles there is a convenient bench with a nice view to take a break. Which was just as well because The Swan in Markyate didn’t open until 3 o’clock (Monday to Wednesday). Think it’s 12 o’clock every other day.
