The walk
Box Moor Walk
This is a lovely family-friendly walk around the Box Moor water meadows and nature reserves to the south of Hemel Hempstead.
You can expect a long walk alongside the River Bulbourne as well as a stretch alongside the Grand Union Canal. You'll also enjoy the Harding's Moor Nature Reserve.
There is a canal-side cafe and pub on the route for you to enjoy refreshments and you can access this walk from the Hemel Hempstead train station.
The walk can be muddy at times, so please wear appropriate footwear for the conditions.

The thing that we both love about the Herts Walk app is that living on the Herts/Essex border, we get to visit places like Box Moor that we hadn’t previously heard of. A perfect, short, family and dog friendly walk. Going midweek, we were fortunate to nab the last parking space, although there is a leisure centre very near the start with lots of parking. Assume you would have to pay. The Fishery Wharf Cafe looks really nice but we didn’t have time to try it out.

Lovely walk. Two lots of cows in fields towards end. They looked very placid but we wussed out and just double backed along canal! Didnt spoil walk though .

We loved it. Beautiful being by the River. Fab place.

Lovely walk along the canal. Very peaceful. Not very challenging. There are a few gates to go through and some deep puddles on the towpath if you had a buggy so I wouldn’t recommend wheelchair or buggy. The Fishery Wharf cafe was superb! Highly recommend.
