Sheethanger Common Walks & Route Maps

This is a wonderful little family-friendly stroll around the pretty Sheethanger Common, just to the south of Hemel Hempstead.

You can expect open parkland, a bench with wonderful views, some lovely woodland walking and some energetic hills to tackle as you walk around this route.

The alternative red-dotted path on the map is a short section that avoids a slightly more hilly part of the walk that might get a bit slippery if it's wet, instead taking you along a tree-lined bridleway that is a bit flatter and protected from the elements.

If you don't want to drive, you can get to the route by walking through Upper Roughdown Common and along Feldon Lane from the Hemel Hempstead train station as marked on the map.

If you have much more time and energy for your adventure, this second route basically joins together the Sheethanger walk with the Westbrook Hay walk to create one big epic adventure around the wonderful Box Moor Estate.

It will enjoy the hills and woodland of Sheethanger, but then also take you on a loop into Westbrook Hay and on a nice walk around open hills and the Hay and Ramacre Woods.

The red-dotted alternate path options on the map avoid a slightly hilly section in the Sheethanger part of the walk, and also offer alternative path options if there is a lot of livestock in the Westbrook Hay fields.

If you do not want to drive, you can reach this walk with a relatively short stroll from the Hemel Hempstead train station as marked on the map.
