Gilston Park Walks & Route Maps

A very nice walk enjoyed by us and the dog. Beautiful view from the top of the hill. A wide variation of terrain, which will require wellies if it has previously rained. Very peaceful walk but the pub at the end has closed down so it was straight back in the car afterwards.

Good variety of scenery.

Arms and legs need to be covered when taking on this walk. Very overgrown, spiky and stingy! Pathways not always clear had to detour slightly

We wanted to complete this (localish to us) walk before the authorities start to build 8,500 houses on the fields. Parking is on the road in front of the church. Not a lot of room but the road is a dead end. The walk is pleasant enough. Mainly on fields on very quiet country roads. The footpath across some of the fields have all but disappeared, see the photo (assume the farmland has been sold off). But, using the App makes it so much easier to navigate than the old days with an OS map and a compass. A shame also is that The Red Lion Pub closed ‘temporarily’ a few years ago.

Lots of shrubland, muddy when wet. There is no pub, it has closed down. Second half of the walk much nicer than the first.

You are not able to di this walk as the paths are way to overgrown with stinging nettles

Lovely stroll

2nd time of doing this walk. The paths that were ploughed over in November were now in place and easy to follow. Very quiet, didn’t meet a soul. Nice day for a walk. Need to wear trousers as some long grass, nettles and brambles.

Yet another great walk. Nice length and quiet countryside. A couple of the footpaths went across planted crop fields and the path was not visible.
