The last bridge as you loop back to the high street was shut. However, a 10 min diversion got us back to the right place!

Much Hadham Walk 2

Walk distance
4¾ miles
Time
2.5 hours
Route type

This second longer route option is a lovely walking loop in the countryside to the south of Much Hadham.

The walk is a very pretty and varied walk that takes you through sections of beautiful open countryside where you'll often see birds of prey hunting above you, and at other times through winding woodland paths. Half way around the route, you'll also pass the outskirts of the Henry Moore gardens where you can grab a sneaky peak of some of the sculptures from the public footpaths.

If you want to see more of the sculptures up close, it's well worth visiting the Henry Moore visitor centre as you can roam around the beautiful gardens admiring a number of Henry Moore's large sculptures.

There is a fee to get into the gardens though, and the gardens close for the winter, so please visit their website to check before visiting.

Brilliant walk, peaceful, easy to follow and some great pubs along the way

Walker review

Lovely walk. Some great views and the Henry Moore museum a great bonus.

Walker review

Another lovely walk but The Hoops Inn is closed and boarded up. Does not look it will reopen any time soon. Dogs not allowed in the Henry Moore site at all but you are able to walk vlose by with dogs.

Walker review

Second time of doing this lovely varied walk. Muddier after all the rain but still passable. The Hoops Inn pub at Perry Green is temporarily closed. Was two months ago too??? However sat on their garden bench for my picnic. Nearby golf club cafe open to the public but didnt try it.

Walker review

Route was a bit confusing at first, but once on the right track it was perfect. Sheep well fenced in. A couple of fields with a couple of horses. Saw a few sculptures. Very enjoyable walk. The Church at Much Hadham is beautiful.

Lovely walk - one of our favourites!

Would have put 5 for enjoyability, but we went on a Monday and all refreshments were closed.

This third route option is an alternative route that also explores the countryside to the south of Much Hadham.

This option doesn't visit the Henry Moore site like the second route, but it is a more varied adventure overall as is has a nice combination of woodland walking through Mill Wood, open countryside walking over Barrow Hill with nice views and waterside walking alongside the River Ash.

Walker review

Really enjoyed this walk on a glorious spring morning. Easy parking. Short stretches of road. Two ploughed fields which had it been wet would have been horrible to cross. Lovely woods towards the end but still quite muddy in parts despite not having had rain for a week. Beware of chickens after sign asking for dogs to be on leads!!

Walker review

Not the most interesting or pretty walk. Dog friendly except for middle section where dogs need to be on lead. Couple of short road bits too. Have to say i wont be rushing to do this walk again.

Walker review

This route takes you through a couple of private gardens, albeit on public footpaths. So, whilst you have every right to be there, it always makes me uncomfortable. Also, a bit more road than I’d personally prefer. However, some absolutely stunning views along the way and a lovely wander along a river for a bit....Mark

This final route option was sent into us by one of our users, and it's basically an epic countryside adventure between the villages of Much Hadham and Wareside.

The walk has a bit of everything with open countryside, arable farmland, sections of woodland and periods of walking alongside the River Ash. There is also a great pub in both Much Hadham at the start, and in Wareside half way around the route.

Please Note: When you're looking at the actual route map on your phone, it uses your battery slightly faster than usual. Therefore, as this is a long route, please make sure you have a full battery before setting off. It's also a good practice to only look at the route map when you really need to navigate, because minimising the app on your phone prevents it from using the extra battery.

Walker review

This is an enjoyable longer walk that isn’t too hilly. Although completing the 10 miles in heavy rain (always convinced it would stop soon) only spoilt it a little bit. It looks like a lot of the walk would be very muddy and hard going during the winter months though, so I would suggest it’s a springtime walk, especially as you get a nice blanket of Bluebells in Side Hill Wood then. Only issue was just under the 2 mile mark, the route is blocked as you approach Kettle Green Lane. A very easy diversion gets you back on track. Overall, a pleasant walk if you have the time with easy parking.
