This short walk around Little Hadham offers a gentle mix of history and countryside, making it a great option for a quick stretch of the legs.

The route drifts out towards the outskirts of Muggins Wood, where farmland begins to give way to thicker woodland and a quieter, more enclosed feel.

Back in the village, The Nags Head provides a nice stop for refreshments or some delicious Indian Cuisine, rounding off a small but varied route with a touch of village life.

Lovely new walk, includes some short bits of road walking, and polo training ground, open countryside route with glimpses of small woodlands.

After not being able to complete any of the Hertfordshire Walks App walks for over 2 months, we got ourselves back into the swing of it with one of the new walks on our doorstep. The road at the start of the walk can sometimes be a little crowded with parked cars. If there are not any spaces there is a lay-by very close to where the walk crosses Hadham Road. The walk is fairly easy with only a little climbing. The Nags Head is around halfway but check the opening times. I think it’s 4:30 most days and closed Tuesday. It’s also (I’m told) a really nice Indian Restaurant. ...We’re looking forward to getting back to our walking routine using the App.

This extended version of the first route around Little Hadham stretches things out a bit, blending village history with a more open, rural feel.

The route takes you out into wider paths including sections of the Hertfordshire Way and Harcamlow Way, giving it a slightly more expansive feel than the first route.

Back towards the village, The Nags Head offers a spot for refreshments and delicious Indian cuisine.

Walker review

Easy parking. Part of the bridle way near the pylons was closed off for overhead wiring replacement so walk was a bit longer but easy to pick up on the app. Nice wide paths for most of the walk. Short sections on quiet roads.

This longer walk to the north of Little Hadham stretches further into the surrounding countryside, offering a more varied and rewarding outing.

The route takes you out onto the Hertfordshire Way, which opens up to wide views across fields and hedgerows.

Patmore Heath then brings a change of scene, with a short walk to a lovely pub for refreshments, before the route connects with the Harcamlow Way, giving a sense of distance and continuity across the landscape as you work your way back to the start.

Walker review

A very pleasant walk consisting mainly of field edges and woodland. Even though you twice cross the Little Hadham bypass, it is surprisingly peaceful. Personally, I found the bypass interesting because despite using it many hundreds of times, I had no idea that a footpath passed beneath. The walk also takes you through the grounds of the historic Hadham Hall.

Our final walk from Little Hadham is an extension of the second route that stretches further into the surrounding countryside and visits the Rosey Lea cafe.

It enjoys everything from the second route, including the Nag's Head pub towards the end that offers a spot for refreshments as well as a popular Indian restaurant.

Walker review

Lovely walk, but longer than expected. The walk was over 8 miles not 6.5 miles as stated. Luckily we had refuelled at Rosey Lea , but felt quite tired at the end....
