From gentle walking along the River Lea and the Ayot Greenway to longer options that explore the surrounding countryside and nearby Amwell, these walks offer a relaxed mix of village character and open landscapes with plenty of opportunity for a stop along the way.

Walk information
This is a lovely short stroll in and around the large village of Wheathampstead.
As well as walking through the village High Street with it's church and various eateries, you'll also walk on a loop consisting of a section of the Ayot Greenway and some walking alongside the River Lea.

First-hand experiences
Lovely varied route. If you don’t like livestock this is perfect, just a few ponies in fenced-in fields. Great little cafe at start/end of walk
Big free car park. Pretty walk around the outskirts of the village. Marleys cafe is fabulous!
Walk information
If you have a lot more time, this second route is an extended version of the first walk.
You'll still enjoy the village high street with it's eateries and church, and the walk alongside the River Lea and Ayot Grenway.
The extra distance however takes you on a much longer walk in the countryside surrounding the village, including a visit to Amwell where there's another pub for refreshments and some woodland stretches in Devil's Dyke.
