Ayot St Lawrence Walks & Route Maps

Ayot St Lawrence is a gorgeous little Hertfordshire village within which you'll find a pretty church and wonderful country pub to enjoy on your visit.

This first route is the one for you if you just want a short leg stretch to enjoy some views before spending more time in the lovely pub garden.

You'll also visit the wonderfully unique St Lawrence church, making this a short but interesting and varied walk.

The second route is a longer adventure that is absolutely perfect in the spring time when the Bluebells are out.

The walk first visits the unique St Lawrence church before taking you on a long track to the west in search of the beautiful Lamer Wood where you can then walk through a wonderful Bluebell display in April time.

You'll then head back up to the village along a different track, and get back to the pub for your well-earned reward.

This third walk visits the St Lawrence church again before heading in the opposite direction to the second route. Even though it's a similar distance, it's a more strenuous and exposed walk as you are heading down the big hill towards Codicote Bottom.

Of course, you are rewarded for your efforts with some wonderful views as you walk down and then at the bottom you'll cross the River Mimram and walk along a pretty stretch of tree-lined path that tracks the river for a while.

As you walked down the hill, you obviously then have to walk back up it in the last section of the walk, which will certainly build up an appetite for your refreshments back at the lovely pub in Ayot St Lawrence.

If the big hill climbing from the third route isn't enough, or you simply want to add an extra pub to your adventure, then this fourth walk option is an extended version of the third walk.

Like the third walk, you'll enjoy the unique church and the long scenic descent of the big hill to the north of the village, as well as the walk along the River Mimram.

However, this route also adds an extra loop of walking that heads further north and actually takes you into the pretty village of Codicote where you can visit another great pub before tackling the long hill walk back up to Ayot St Lawrence.
