Walk information
This is a nice short pub walk from the pretty village of Kimpton. The walk climbs up a mild hill to the north of the village, takes you through the woodland of Park Wood, and then loops back round to descend back down into the village.
In Kimpton itself, you'll then visit the lovely church and a nice pub on the High Street if you need refreshments.

Easy stroll, very peaceful
Nice walk good for kids
Straightforward walk, which means you dont need to be looking at the route the whole time. Relatively dry now (8/3/25) after a very wet muddy few weeks.
Lovely short walk for a cold winters day. Very enjoyable and the fields were super peaceful. Paths clear and directions excellent.
A really nice hour’s walk, in a lovely setting.
The directions take you to a free car park that usually has plenty of spaces. We walked in the opposite direction to the suggested route, so we completed most of the walk before getting to The Boot for a very ressonably priced lunch
First time we used the app - very enjoyable walk. Lovely to see a little bit of Kimpton. The Boot - nice pub (toilet facilities). Sections of track across the open field weren’t so clear. The GPS helped us out, although the GPS dot did go off at one point. Thank you!

Walk information
This second route option heads in the opposite direction to the first and explores the countryside to the south of the village.
The walk takes you on a climb up through lovely countryside and woodland until you reach the wonderful St Lawrence Church on the outskirts of Ayot St Lawrence. It then heads west through more nice open countryside until you reach a fantastic county pub for some well-earned refreshments about two thirds of the way around the route.

lovely countryside walk
Lovely walk - there was a fallen tree on one of the woodland paths as you head towards the final field near The Crosskeys. We had to crawl/climb it so worth keeping in mind if there are any mobility issues.
Gorgeous walk in a lovely area. Plenty of dogs
Beautiful. Some shooting noise on first half that spoiled it a bit. Great pub midway.
Really enjoyed this walk - a mixture of farmland trails and woodland for shade, it was the perfect combination and length for a sunny weekend dog walk! Didnt stop at the pub but looked welcoming and wouldn’t hesitate to do this walk again. Parking was easy and free. Thanks for a great recommendation.

This third route option is basically an extension of the first walk that heads up the hill to the north of the village.
The extra distance offers a lot more open countryside walking along the peaceful Chiltern Way and the Hertfordshire Way, for plenty of fresh air and exercise. It also then calls in on the village of Whitwell where you'll find the water cress farm shop, another great pub and a nice tea room.

Beautiful walk through glorious countryside. One section necessitated walking through fields with horses so dogs need to be back on the lead which was interesting when negotiating the stiles and the electric fence. Recommend the short detour to the slightly quirky Emily’s cafe and the neighbouring secret garden but the pub in Whitwell looked good as well. Last section is across 3 vast and very exposed fields. Will definitely do this walk again. ......
The start was lovely, but lots of long stretches through farmland in the end so got a little samey. One of the fields at the end was a big uphill with no path or marker through it
Not as nice as Kimpton Walk 2. This walk is mostly through open farmer’s fields. Took us just less than 2 hours.

This fourth option heads out in a completely different direction to the other walks as it heads out West towards the small village of Peter's Green.
You will be rewarded with just as much pretty undulating countryside as on the other routes, as it enjoys a fantastic stretch of walking along the Chiltern Way.
If you need refreshments, there is a wonderful pub to enjoy half way around the walk in Peter's Green, as well as the great pub on the High Street in Kimpton itself.

If you like peaceful walks, then this is perfect. Ample parking at the start (midweek), this takes you through pretty Kimpton and out to the equally nice Peters Green. About halfway there is The Bright Star pub that looks very pleasant but we resisted. Soon after the pub, as you return to Kimpton, the villagers have placed some benches and tables at the bottom of their gardens which provide a good place to have a break. We didn’t resist The Boot Pub at the end of the walk. Very comfortable and serving Real Ale.
Lovely walk through sweeping fields! A bit of busy narrow road walking involved and exceptionally muddy in janury, but take wellies and the views are lovely! Also nice and quiet route. Pub with a roaring fire in kimpton at the end too.

This final route option is basically a grand and epic adventure in the countryside around the village of Kimpton.
It includes elements of the third and fourth walks as it visits the small village of Peter's Green and the larger village of Whitwell on the way around. The rest of the walk is mainly made up of sweeping undulating open countryside, so it's really a walk for those of you that really want to stretch your legs.
It is quite an open walk without a lot of shade, so please be aware of this on days when you will be exposed to the weather. However, there are three fabulous country pubs across the villages on the route for well-earned pit stops as you go.
