Brocket Hall Walks & Route Maps

We don't normally feature 'there and back' routes and if you have time we would definitely recommend following the second circular route. However, this first route is a lovely option if you just want a short family friendly stroll before enjoying a delicious lunch at the Waggoners pub.

The route takes you down the hill into the golf course at Brocket Hall and visits the picturesque bridge in the centre of the estate. You then retrace your footsteps and climb back up the hill through the pretty golf course and woodlands.

This is an active golf course, so please take care when walking and pay attention to the signs dotted along the footpath that tell you which way to look for golfers.

This second route option is a lovely circular pub walk around the grounds of the beautiful Brocket Hall from the delightful Waggoners pub in Ayot Green.

You'll first walk through the pretty village of Ayot Green and then head off on an amble along the Ayot Greenway disused railway path for a while before looping back around through some woodland and into the Brocket Hall park.

You'll then walk around the lovely park visiting the photogenic bridge and lake before heading out of the park to the north and back to the pub for your reward.

Please Note: There is a golf course in the park, and the public footpaths sometimes cross fairways, so please be respectful of golfers, stick to the route and look out for flying balls!

This third route is basically a much longer version of the second walk for those of you with more time and energy for your adventure.

You'll still visit the wonderful grounds of Brocket Hall but before then you'll embark on a much longer adventure along the Ayot Greenway.

The Greenway is an old railway track that is now a pleasant foot and cycle path that takes you all the way to the pretty village of Wheathampstead.

While visiting Wheathampstead, you'll find another pub for a half way pitstop if you need, before then heading back towards Brocket Hall through a lovely stretch of countryside that tracks the River Lea.
