Highfield Oval is a lovely little estate where you can stroll around some well maintained and marked woodlands, wander through their lovely wildflower meadows and finally visit their nice cafe for some tasty refreshments.
It's a really peaceful place to stroll around, so it's well worth a visit.
Important:
This is a private estate that allows public access for walking and visiting the cafe. Gates are generally open 8am to 8pm Monday to Saturday, and 8am to 1pm on Sundays. This can change, so check their website or social media to check before visiting.
You need to make an annual donation to get a permit if you want to walk your dog here.

First-hand experiences
We did this very interesting short walk since we were passing nearby. Whilst it seems a perfect dog walk, there are signs up stating that you need a ‘dog walking’ permit that costs £80! The estate used to be a children’s home early in the last century. It’s now owned by a young people’s charity. I would suggest the spring/summer would be a nicer time to visit when the flowers are out.
