Patmore Heath Walks & Route Maps

This is a short but lovely stroll from Patmore Heath.

You'll enjoy the grass heathland of the Patmore Heath itself, before venturing out into the countryside for a bit of a climb up the hill and then some gorgeous views on the way back around.

There's then a short walk along the lane to the lovely pub that does a very popular Sunday Roast. (We would advise booking in advance on a Sunday as they get fully booked!)

The Catherine Wheel, Albury

This second route is a slightly longer walk in the wonderful undulating countryside to the west of Patmore Heath.

After a short stroll through Patmore Heath itself, you'll then leave the village and climb up in to the hills and enjoy a stretch of the Hertfordshire way and some patches of pretty woodland as you work your way back towards the start via the lovely pub.

This third route option is a little bit longer again (especially if you detour to the pub) but youre rewarded for the effort with some wonderful views as you walk.

After a stroll through the Patmore Heath, you'll leave the village and climb up into the hills for a long loop of walking that includes open countryside, woodland sections and a number of stunning views.

We think this is our personal favourite of our walks from Patmore Heath if you have to time to enjoy the extra distance.

It combines the best bits of the earlier routes, including Patmore Heath itself, some lovely woodland sections, some climbs and descents to get the heart pumping and lots of rewarding views.

You'll pass the pub at the start of the walk, but if the hills work up an appetite, it's only a short stroll to get back there for refreshments after your walk. Please do book on Sundays though as it is popular and often fills up.

If you want a slightly longer leg stretch, then this fifth walk option heads out into the farmed countryside to the east of Patmore Heath, giving you an alternative long ramble through this pretty part of Hertfordshire.

There are less hills over this side, so you get a flatter walk, and there are not any woodland sections, so it's not quite as varied as the other routes, with more exposure to the sun on a hot day.

However, it's still a very peaceful and you get rewarded with some wonderful views at the end of the route.

This final route is basically an epic adventure that enjoys all of the good bits of the other routes.

It's a long walk, so you will need the time and energy to complete this one, but you'll be rewarded with many highlights and a wonderful day out in this lovely peaceful and undulating area of Hertfordshire countryside.

As with all the other routes from Patmore Heath, you can reward yourself with a delicious meal in the wonderful pub after your walk. Please do book in advance on Sundays though as it's very popular.
