Walk information
This is a short but lovely little family-friendly stroll from the quiet Hertfordshire village of Burnham Green.
There's a few little hills and some nice views to enjoy as you walk through the pretty countryside around the village, and then there is a wonderful country pub with a large beer garden for your post-walk refreshments.

Lots of nettles at the start if you have any exposed flesh
The kids loved walking past the horses and cows. Perfect little route for our little ones (6, 4, 3)
Lovely walk!
Starts along busy country road then diverts into wood/field/paddocks/gently hilly. Horses loose on the public right of way and lots of rabbits everywhere - so dogs need to be kept on a lead at all times. Muddy and narrow in places.
This walk was really enjoyable - open countryside with good paths. The white horse is a lovely pub with great food and friendly staff - WELL WORTH DOING!

This second route option is a longer walk in the countryside to the south of Burnham Green.
It's more of an exercise option really as it takes you on a long walk through sweeping open countryside that descends down a long hill towards Welwyn-Garden-City.
Of course, with every down there must come an up, so the second half of the walk takes you back up the hill towards Burnham Green where you can enjoy the lovely pub after your efforts.

Enjoyable walk - mainly fields and open land - met a few others walkers. Pub at the end has large garden and welcomes dogs
Be aware that some of the walk is on bridle paths.
Nice walk where you go through fields if horses and cows, so dog need be on leads and parts are very muddy. But you get great views of the viaduct.

This third route option is our recommended walk from Burnham Green as it offers you a wonderfully varied pub walk in this lovely area of Hertfordshire countryside.
The walk heads out to the north from the pub and then takes you on an adventure through Barnes Wood and Harmergreen Wood where you'll possibly find some air outlets from the railway tunnels deep in the woods.
The youngest member of our team had no trouble believing that these outlets were goblin towers, especially when the train drove through the tunnels sending haunting sounds and winds into the surrounding forest.
You'll also emerge out onto a clearing overlooking the dramatic entrance to the tunnel itself deep in the woods at one point, making the adventure even more fun.
After that excitement, you will then follow the loop back round through a residential area and then through some pretty countryside until you reach the village and wonderful pub garden for your reward.

A really lovely walk on a sunny Sunday morning!
One of my favourites for Autumn!
This was a really lovely autumn walk through lots of beautiful woodland and wooded paths. The views on the open sections were lovely and we loved the magic wind of the goblin tunnels!
Lovely walk, lots of off lead for the dogs. The only livestock were several fields with horses at the side of the path. Great pub at Burnham Green.
Lovely walk, some train interest en route for young enthusiasts plus you can reward yourself with a pub lunch at the end.

Walk information
This final route is basically an extension of the third adventure walk for those of you that want a bit more distance in your walk.
Basically, you'll still enjoy all of the fun of the Harmergreen Woods, but instead of looping back round to the village, it takes you on the path that we follow on the second walk out towards Welwyn-Garden-City.
That option then offers you a much longer loop of walking through the undulating open countryside to the south of the village before the long climb back up to the pub.

Took us 2 hours walking at a brisk pace. Some steep sections. Nice view of Digswell viaduct from afar.
Lovely walk - a real mix of field, woodland and lovely views
Lovely walk. Quiet countryside. Easy parking. Took me 2hours rather than 3. Pretty woodlands. A few inclines on this route. Also a field containing a bull and cows which you need to cross. Pub at the start/finish.
