This is a nice and simple short stroll around the countryside surrounding the small village of Aspenden, just to the south of Buntingford.
After your stroll, and after visiting the pretty church, you can get refreshments at the lovely little country pub on the main street.

If you have a lot more time and energy for your adventure, this second route is a much longer exploration of the countryside to the southwest of Aspenden.
You'll travel through lots of open farmland and countryside before eventually reaching Back Lane which is an old Roman Road.
After that you'll start heading back towards Aspenden through more peaceful open countryside until you reach the church and finally the pub in the village for refreshments.
This long walk is quite exposed to the elements and doesn't offer a lot of shade, so please be aware of this in certain weather conditions.

First-hand experiences
Its a nice country side and easy to follow the route. We did take a short cut on the longer route as its more than 6 miles it stated. I would say its closer to 7 miles if not a little further.
Good walk if you are only interested in the number of steps you would do. Not much to see, frankly. The farthest part of the walk was through complete overgrowth, which probably did not help with feeling slightly underwhelmed by this route.
We went on a monday so the pub was shut. Lovely walk though!
Glorious walk. Could be a mud fest after rain! Some nice views. Saw no one at all. Very quiet. ...
