Comb's Wood is a little hidden gem, deep in the Hertfordshire countryside, and this first route is a short and mildly hilly stroll that all of the family can enjoy.

It starts with a walk downhill through the pretty Comb's Wood itself, and then it climbs up the hill again alongside Banfield wood offering you some fabulous countryside views. You'll then loop around and head back to the start of the walk along the Chain Walk.

There is a short section of walking along the road at the end of the walk, so be careful here.

We went on a cold winters day after a dry spell and it was slightly muddy. I image you would need wellies after rain. ......The bit at the end of the walk where you walk on the road was scary with a 7 year old. Probably wouldnt return to this route because of that.

If you have a little bit more time, this second route option is basically an extension of the first walk.

You'll enjoy all of the woods and views from the first route, but the extra distance on this one then takes you on a long loop of walking deep into the countryside that you were enjoying the look of from the top of the hill.

Perfect autumn walk. Imagine it might be a bit muddy after rain but its been dry for a while now. Great views, great for dogs, only saw 3 or 4 other people. Parking is in a lay-by so might get busy but we met friends at 10am on a Saturday morning and had no problem parking

Lovely walk, thoroughly enjoyed it. Challenge: the opposite direction if you want more hill climbing. Wet grassy bits so walking boots recommended.

Love this figure of eight walk. Saw no one at all. Lots of shady paths and woods which on this very hot day was perfect. However after rain it would probably be a mud fest. Lovely views and easy walking.

Second time I’ve done this walk. You really are away from everything and everone. Only saw one cyclist on whole route. Great for the dog. Very muddy and boggy in places after all the recent rain. Glad I was wearing wellies and not just walking boots.

A peaceful walk through beautiful countryside. Lots of off lead opportunites if you are taking a dog. Parking on roadside is not the easiest at the start of the route.

Lovely walk through the bluebell wood at the start with lovely scenery. Lots of sheep and lambs on route so dogs on leads in places, also saw a herd of deer. Wore wellies (Apr) but didn’t actually need them.
