Walk information
This first walk is a simple short stroll in the countryside around Nuthampstead.
You'll head out towards the outskirts of the Earl's Wood before looping around and heading back.
There's then a short detour to a lovely pub when you get back.

The second route is basically an extension to the first route that enjoys a lot more peaceful open countryside and visits the high street of Barkway.
As with the first route, there is a little detour to a lovely pub for refreshments when you get back to the village.

A beautiful, sunny day made this walk even nicer. We combined walks one and two by making it into a figure of eight, duplicating the short, central section.......One part of the walk crosses a field with some extremely friendly, inquisitive young horses. If you’re a fan of horses, it’s great (my wife was over the moon). If you’re a bit more "horse-shy" like me, just be prepared for them to come over and say hello! Throughout the walk we also saw loads of deer.......We finished at the excellent Woodman Inn which I can definitely recommend. Take time to look at the WWII American Airforce memorial outside. There is a small museum close by which I think is only open on Sundays but worth checking

This third route is simply a further extension to the routes we've put together in the first and second walks.
This one takes you further north and takes you through the Five Acre Wood before then looping back through Barkway and then back to the welcoming pub in the village.

This final route is an epic adventure for those of you that really want to stretch your legs, or are training for a long distance walk.
It heads north through peaceful open countryside until you reach the village of Barley where you'll find a pub for half way refreshments.
After that, you'll head back down through the pretty Newsells Park until you reach Barkway, before walking back through countryside along the Hertfordshire Way and past Earl's Wood to the start where there's another pub for refreshments.

This walk is more or less the same as Barkway walk 1 but picking it up half way around. ...Still a very pleasant walk
