The walk
Goldhanger Walk
This long walk from Goldhanger and is a wonderful circular adventure starting from the lovely 11th century St Peters Church.
If you head anticlockwise, the route takes you to the River Blackwater where you can embark on an epic stroll along the estuary with its salt marshes, mudflats and wonderful wildlife.
When you return to the village through lots of open farmland, there is a wonderful 14th century Inn for refreshments.

We only went about halfway round following the coast path each way. Lovely walk and pub was great too! Looking forward to doing the whole walk - all 8.75 miles sometime soon!...

Easy to follow with some ponies, sheep and lots of birds to keep you company. Great switch between countryside and river scenery. A long walk which was not exhausting.

Lovely walk! Long but flat - took me 3 hours with a few stops. Bit overgrown as of may 22 but manageable.

Had to do a nature tiddle twice but apart from that, this 3.5 hr walk was spectacular! Lots of birdlife, saw plenty of sheep and cows and had sore feet at the end but it is worthwhile - especially having a meal at the pub near the Church (The Chequers Inn). Goldhanger is beautiful village.

Did this walk on a cold but sunny day in February. Lovely views of the Blackwater River. The Cheques Inn is great for a pint at the end of the walk but bear in mind this is the only toilet stop on the route

Scenic, very uneven ground. Difficult in parts to see what you are walking on. Views of sea and animals.
