Essex Walks
Set on the Dengie Peninsula, Tillingham is the starting point for these walks, offering a choice between a gentle village stroll and a full-scale estuary adventure.
The shorter option is a relaxed, family-friendly loop taking in the village church, two welcoming pubs and a wander through West Field recreation ground, complete with play area and skatepark.
In contrast, the longer of the walks heads out across open farmland to meet the wide waters of the River Blackwater at Bradwell Marina, before following the sweeping estuary coastline towards St Lawrence and eventually looping back inland.
Whether you’re after a quick outing close to the village or an epic day of big skies and coastal views, these walks showcase two very different sides of Tillingham.

Walk information
This is a simple and short family-friendly pub walk around the pretty village of Tillingham.
The main part of the walk is visiting the village itself with it's two lovely pubs to choose from and a nice church to visit.
You'll also walk through the West Field recreational park with it's play area and skatepark for the little ones.

In contrast to the first tiny walk, this second route is a truly epic all-day walking adventure from the lovely village of Tillingham.
If you head anticlockwise, this route takes you through open farmland until you meet the majestic River Blackwater and Bradwell Marina.
The walk then heads west for a long and rewarding walk alongside the estuary until you reach the pretty village of St Lawrence.
After this, the route then heads back through flat open farmland to Tillingham where you'll find two delightful pubs and a pretty church.
