Chinley Walks & Route Maps

This is a lovely walk starting from the War Memorial in the busy village of Chinley. You will start with a steep climb from the village up to the old slate quarry at Cracken Edge then on to Chinley Churn where you can enjoy some superb views over the plateau towards the famous Kinder Scout.

The rest of the walk takes you over typical Peak District countryside with lots of interesting features and lovely views to admire with only one more very small hill to climb. There are gates and stiles and the route will be muddy in wet weather.

For refreshments try The Navigation Inn at Whaley Bridge it's a cosy little pub with good food.

This wonderful walk is slightly longer with even more of a climb than Walk 1. Again, you will start with a steep climb from the village of Chinley up to the old slate quarry at Cracken Edge then on to Chinley Churn where you can enjoy some superb views over the plateau towards the famous Kinder Scout.

The rest of the walk also takes you over typical Peak District countryside with lots of interest and stunning views to admire as you walk. There is a second hill to climb half way round (but it is not as steep).

There is a small amount of road walking and you will need to cross a busy road a couple of times so care will be needed. There are gates and stiles and the route will be muddy in wet weather.
