Walk information
This is a nice and short family-friendly stroll around the common to the south of the village of Colney Heath. It's only short in distance, but the walk packs in some open common, some pretty woodland walking and a stretch alongside the River Colne.
There isn't a pub actually on the route, but there is one on the Colney Heath high street.

If you have a bit more time, then this second route option might be a better option. It enjoys the park, woodland and river from the first walk, but it also heads further south through open countryside until it loops around one of the Willow Lakes and then takes you back along a stretch of the Watling Chase Timberland trail.

Nice little walk...Tree down on one of the paths, but easy to climb over/through
We did this walk on Boxing Day 2025, a bright sunny day and was very enjoyable. Lovely photos taken of the lake. A mixed walk with fields, woods and lake views.
It was a great afternoon walk in the autumn with the trees looking their best
It was a lovely walk, we had a buggy with us and there was some stiles so had to lift it over. It was a nice dry day but would need wellies if wet.

Muddy when rained. If dogs are fearful of loud noises there is the occassional loud bang from the quarry next to route.

This longest route from Colney Heath is basically a further extension to the second route. This version enjoys everything from the other walks, but also heads further south to walk around another of the Willow Lakes and also passes the entrance to the Willows Activity Farm.
