The walk
Essendon Walk
This is a lovely stroll in and around the undulating countryside to the east of Essendon.
After visiting the church in Essendon, you'll head off on a pretty countryside ramble on tracks, paths and on a footpath through the golf course, until eventually you reach the quintessential village of Little Berkhamstead.
The village has a traditional country pub, a playground for the kids and on summer weekends you may also find the local cricket team playing in the wonderful village green here, making it a great place to stop and relax.
You'll then head north along the Hertfordshire Way through some woodland until you get back into the golf course where their clubhouse bar, restaurant and outdoor drinks cart are open to the public making it another perfect pitstop on your walk. If you're interested in playing golf or joining the club, pop into their reception and have a chat.

Please Note:
There are some short sections of the walking through the golf course itself, sometimes crossing fairways. Please stick to the designated route, look out for flying balls and respect the golfers around you.
Alternative Parking:
The golf club have given permission for walkers to park in their car park when they are open. Please note that you will need to get the 'exit code' from the reception to get out of the car park.

Lovely walk but dogs had to be kept on lead for most of it as through a golf course, farmers fields etc

There were 3 or 4 stiles to go over and most of the paths were quite wide. You do need to be careful through Essendon as you are walking across fareways so dogs need to go a lead.
