This walk near Goodrich explores the beautiful Wye Valley, following quiet lanes before climbing up Coppet Hill for far-reaching views across the surrounding countryside.
This walk also includes an optional detour to the impressive medieval Goodrich Castle, with the Hostelrie nearby for refreshments afterwards.

At a glance
The walk
This walk is just over the border into Herefordshire. The River Wye winds through stunning countryside and forms the border with Gloucestershire. This area is the start of a scenic gorge where the river flows beneath rugged cliffs and wooded slopes.
Follow a quiet road with glimpses of the river before quite a steep climb up Coppet Hill. Your climb offers breathtaking views of the Wye Valley and on clear days, at the top you can see the Brecon Beacons.
We've also included an extension to the amazing medieval Goodrich Castle (about 1/2 mile each way). There is a fee to enter the Castle and there is additional paid parking if required (free for English Heritage members).
