Stourton Walks & Route Maps

This short walk near Stourton is a gentle way to enjoy the peaceful woodlands that surround the village.

This one doesn't visit the village itself, but instead it slips quickly into tree-lined paths where the atmosphere feels calm and enclosed, with dappled light filtering through the canopy. (As with all woodland walks, appropriate footwear might be required in wet weather.)

You'll also take a short detour to visit the impressive St Alfred's Tower.

This longer walk near Stourton builds on the shorter route by pushing deeper into the surrounding woodlands, although still without actually visiting the village itself.

The sense of enclosure is stronger here, with winding paths, taller trees and a quieter, more immersive feel.

You'll also enjoy the detour to St Alfred's Tower and the extra distance basically gives you more lovely woodland to explore.

Our longest route option turns a gentle woodland walk into a more satisfying day out and unlike the first two routes, actually visits the village of Stourton.

It keeps all the quiet, tree-lined paths of the shorter routes, with long stretches of shade and a calm, enclosed feel that changes nicely with the seasons, and you'll also visit St Alfred's Tower.

Later, the walk edges closer to the village itself, where a short detour allows time for a pub stop if wanted. The route also passes near the National Trust's Stourton Park and Gardens, offering the option to visit the landscaped grounds for a fee. (See National Trust Website for details)
