The walk
Short Route
This short walk explores the wonderfully varied landscape of Smallbrook Meadows, a peaceful nature reserve made up of water meadows, marshes, ponds, and chalk rivers.
Later on, the walk loops around the lake in the Lake Pleasure Grounds, where seasonal colour brings the meadows to life.
From spring wildflowers to summer dragonflies, wildlife can sometimes be spotted if you’re lucky. Old drainage ditches hint at the area’s past as working water meadows, adding a quiet layer of history to this gentle little route.

Lovely...What I call an easy walk along proper pathways. Unless you go the opposite way out of the carpark by the side of the river. Which is stunning!
