All Cannings Walks & Route Maps

This first route option is a short and relatively flat family-friendly stroll from the All Cannings bridge.

If you head anticlockwise, the walk first takes you on a lovely stroll alongside the Kennet and Avon canal. After a while, you then loop back through a big open field before getting back into the village where you'll immediately find a nice country pub.

After that, it's a short stroll back to the start through the village.

The Kings Arms, All Cannings

This second route is a slightly longer and more hilly adventure that heads to the west of All Cannings Bridge.

You'll again enjoy a stretch of walking alongside the pretty canal, but this time the loop crosses the river and takes you on a journey around the hills to the north of the village. It will also visit the wonderful Long Barrow at All Cannings.

Please note: there is some walking on a pretty fast road with no footpath on this route, so be very careful here and be aware that this route may not be suitable for some walkers.

This third route option is basically an extension to the second route for those of you that have more time for your adventure.

The walk still enjoys everything from the second route, but the extra distance takes you further into the countryside to the north of the canal and visits the village of Bishops Cannings where you'll find a pub half way around the route.

This fourth route option is a long and strenuous adventure in the lovely hills to the north and east of All Cannings.

Like the other routes, there is a relaxed section of walking alongside the canal, but then the loop of walking to the north takes you on a big climb up into the hills to join the White Horse Trail that follows the Mid Wilts Way.

If you head clockwise, you'll get the energetic climbing done on the first half of the walk before then reaching the lovely canal-side pub in Honey Street for a well earned reward. After that, it's just a long and leisurely stroll along the canal to the start point.

This final route option is another truly epic adventure from the All Cannings bridge.

This route heads to the west on a long ramble through open countryside, all the way to Devizes. Once you get to Devizes it then hits the Canal where you will turn back and then follow a long, sweeping and relaxed walk along the pretty Kennet and Avon Canal, all the way back to the start point.

It doesn't have as much strenuous hill climbing as you'll find on the fourth route, but there still is a bit of a hill to tackle as you get towards Devizes.
