Somerset Walks
There are two lovely walks around Montacute, each offering a mix of charming village scenery, open countryside, and woodland paths.
Both routes start near Montacute House, the beautiful Elizabethan manor, and climb up St. Michael’s Hill for stunning views over Somerset.
The longer walk continues through Hedgecock Hill Wood and into Ham Hill Country Park, where you can explore the Iron Age hillfort and enjoy the varied wildlife.
Along the way, there are plenty of opportunities to stop for refreshments at local pubs, making these walks both scenic and sociable.

Walk information
A nice walk starting next to Montacute house, the beautiful Elizabethan Manor house. It's worth a visit if you get time.
The walk goes through some lovely woodlands and open areas with beautiful views after a short climb to the top of St Michael's hill overlooking Somerset's countryside.
The walk also passes two pubs which are in Montacute 'The Phelps Arms' and 'The Kings Arms'.

The second walk is a wonderful adventure, starting in the village of Montacute and heading up to St. Michael's Hill, where you'll be rewarded with great views.
From there, the route continues through Hedgecock Hill Wood before giving you the chance to explore the fantastic Ham Hill Country Park.
This park features an Iron Age hillfort, diverse scenery, abundant wildlife, and stunning views.
It's a strenuous walk with several hills, so be prepared for a bit of a challenge. Along the way, you'll also pass by three pubs, perfect for a refreshing break.
