Stodmarsh Nature Reserve Walks & Route Maps

This short route takes in the heart of Stodmarsh National Nature Reserve, a wetland landscape of reedbeds, lakes, and meadows along the River Stour.

A highlight is the Reedbed Hide, where sweeping views across the reeds offer the chance to watch the landscape in motion.

Marsh harriers can sometimes be seen gliding low, while bitterns boom from the depths in winter.

To round off the walk, we've added an extension to visit the village pub for refreshments.

If you have more time for your adventure, this longer route explores the full breadth of Stodmarsh National Nature Reserve, where reedbeds, marshes, and meadows stretch across the Stour Valley.

The reserve is alive with seasonal colour and sound, from dragonflies over the water to the calls of marsh harriers and bearded tits above the reeds.

Further on, the Great Stour winds through the wetlands, its slow waters supporting fish, herons, and summer insects.

With pubs at either end of the walk, this walk offers a fantastic day out for nature lovers.
