Kent Walks

The shorter route takes you through Thornden Wood and into West Blean Wood, where towering oaks, chestnuts, and hazels create a peaceful, shaded atmosphere.
In spring, bluebells carpet the woodland floor, while warblers and, if you’re lucky, nightingales add to the gentle soundtrack of the woods. Butterflies, including the rare heath fritillary, can sometimes be spotted along the way.
The longer route links Thornden Wood, West Blean Wood, and Clowes Wood for a fuller exploration of these ancient woodlands.
Coppiced clearings, sunlit glades, and quiet corners create habitat for woodpeckers, nesting nightingales, and a variety of seasonal wildlife.
