Seabrook Walks & Route Maps

This short walk explores the unique setting of Seabrook, where coast and countryside meet in a single stretch. It begins along Princes Parade, with the Channel on one side and the Royal Military Canal running parallel just inland.

The route then follows the line of the Royal Military Canal, a 19th-century defence built against the threat of Napoleonic invasion. Though never used in conflict, it has become a peaceful green corridor, edged with trees and home to waterfowl and dragonflies. It’s a gentle outing that mixes history, nature, and wide views in one compact adventure.

This much longer route begins by winding through some pretty woodland and open ground before then crossing a golf course (take care here and please be mindful of golfers!).

From here, the path leads to Saltwood Castle, a Norman stronghold linked to the story of Thomas Becket and still an impressive feature on the Kentish landscape. It then continues to Eaton Lands Wildflower Meadow, where splashes of colour appear in spring and summer as butterflies and bees drift between the flowers.

Further on, the route passes a pub for refreshments before reaching the Royal Military Canal and then finishing along Princes Parade, where the Channel and canal run side by side, blending sea air, history, and wide views.
