It passes the historic Coastguard Cottages before crossing the vast National Nature Reserve, where rare plants and birdlife thrive in this extraordinary habitat.

The walk continues across Denge Marsh and through the RSPB reserve, with its reedbeds and hides offering chances to spot marsh harriers, waders, and other wetland species.

Then, a coastal walk past the looming shape of the nuclear power station adds a stark industrial backdrop before the route finishes near the striking black-and-white lighthouse and a welcome stop at the local pub.
