Wormley Woods Walks & Route Maps

This short family-friendly route through Wormley Woods offers a peaceful woodland escape, where tall oaks, hornbeams and silver birch create a classic Hertfordshire forest feel.

Part of the wider Broxbourne Woods National Nature Reserve, it’s an area rich in history, once managed for timber and still shaped by centuries of woodland craft.

Underfoot, the paths are soft and shaded, weaving through dense trees and occasional clearings. In spring, bluebells can carpet sections of the forest, while in quieter moments you might hear woodpeckers or spot deer moving between the trees.

The route stretches deeper into the forest, linking wider tracks with narrower, winding paths. In spring, bluebells can spread across the woodland floor, while year-round you might hear woodpeckers or, if you’re lucky, spot deer moving through the trees.
