Little Berkhamstead Walks & Route Maps

Very much enjoyed this walk. Beautiful combination of open fields and petty woods.. Fairly easy. We strayed off route by mistake as busy talking! But easily found oue way back onto it. The Five Horseshoes pub is perfect for coffee, drinks or a meal. Easy parking for patrons.

Very over grown in areas, just passable

Very muddy when wet!

Dog and I foolishly chose this walk after a couple of days of heavy rain. Deep muddy paths near beginning of walk - just made it through without mud entering boots. Path along roadside for parts was a 2-3 inch river. Very pretty walk though and looking forward to repeat on a drier day.

Short easy walk, with some pretty patches (particularly the first wooded area) but too many boring narrow paths hugging the road filled with stinging nettles and brambles. Not a good one for shorts on a hot day at the end of summer. Maybe better in Spring. Nice to have pub options though.

A quite steep and long climb after crossing the first road. A few more smaller inclines further on. When we went there was not much parking on the road but you can park in the pub car park.

Very overgrown in some areas.

A significant stretch along a path adjacent to a busy road so would need to keep more boisterous dogs on a lead and sections which are obviously little used and overgrown so need covered legs ...to avoid the stinging nettles but otherwise a lovely walk

Great walk, lovely through the woods on an autumn day. The five horseshoes is a lovely pub to finish up at.
