Gloucestershire Walks
Set in the rolling countryside of Gloucestershire, these rewarding walks around Cranham takes you through beautiful Buckholt Wood, along a stretch of the Cotswold Way, and past the famous slopes of Cooper's Hill, home of the annual cheese rolling event.
With two route options to choose from, this is a varied and scenic outing with some notably steep sections that will appeal to more energetic walkers, rewarded by lovely views from the top.
A small optional detour leads to well-earned refreshments at The Black Horse Inn, making this a memorable Cotswold walk with a little bit of everything.

Cranham walk 01
A lovely walk through Buckholt wood and around Cranham.
There is a small detour at the end of the walk to the 'Black Horse Inn' for refreshments. Beware this walk has some steep parts to it for more energetic walkers.
This walk is close to the famous cheese rolling hill, see the longer Cranham walk to go there.

Beautiful walk with lovely views. Donation car park at the start. Some inclines.
Perfect walk for me and dog! Very very hilly but my pup loved it!
It was quite overgrown in one section, including multiple fallen trees blocking the path
No stiles but fallen trees snd branches create similar obstacles.
Enjoyable
We found lots of trees down on route, having to move off the track to get round some of them. It was managable but very steep and uneven.
Lovely walk. Mainly woodland. Some parts a bit steep but 6 year old managed it. Quite uneven, rocky and boggy in some bits. Great for dogs.
This was a great walk. One very steep climb up, one very steep stagger down. It had rained the day before but there were very few muddy spots. Would be great for a hot sunny day with dogs as is mostly in the woods. Some great views every now and then. Loved it!
Its likely there will be sheep in the field soon I would think....Pub newly refurbished. Nice, a little expensive.
Cranham walk 02
This walk takes you through Buckholt wood along a section of the Cotswold Way and through Cranham.
There are some very steep areas to this walk for more energetic walkers. This walk will take you past the well-known cheese rolling Coopers Hill which is steep so please be careful. There are some lovely views at the top of Coopers hill.
There is also a small detour during this walk which takes you to the 'Black Horse Inn' if desired.

Lots of bluebells in the woods - more of a woods walk than scenic route but still enjoyable. The pub is only a couple of minutes detour at the end and was cute!
Nice walk and a lovely day
Nice walk, not very scenic though. Lots of wooded area, probably would be lovely in the summer because of the shade. Some steep sections but doable! Only took us 1 hour 35 minutes too!
