Derbyshire Walks
These walks explore the limestone valleys and hill country around Beresford Dale in the southern Peak District, with routes ranging from a shorter dale-side circuit to a much longer walk across the surrounding White Peak landscape.
The walks take in Beresford Dale, Wolfscote Dale and Biggin Dale, where the River Dove cuts through steep-sided valleys beneath rocky limestone slopes, while higher ground around Wolfscote Hill opens out into broader views across the area. Both routes also pass the Devonshire Arms, providing a convenient stop for refreshments along the way.

Walk information
This short walk explores the rolling limestone countryside around Beresford Dale, including a quiet stretch of Reynards Lane where open fields and dry stone walls create classic White Peak scenery.
The route also passes the beautiful setting of Beresford Dale, a narrow limestone valley carved by the River Dove, where wooded slopes and rocky outcrops add a wilder feel to this small, hilly adventure.

If you have more time, this much longer hilly walk explores more of the beautiful limestone scenery within this are of the southern Peak District.
High ground around Wolfscote Hill gives sweeping views before the route drops into the beautiful valley of Wolfscote Dale, where the River Dove winds between steep grassy slopes and rocky crags.
The route also passes through the quieter landscape of Biggin Dale, a National Nature Reserve known for its rich limestone grasslands.
Towards the end of the walk, you will pass the Devonshire Arms for refreshments before reaching the wooded valley scenery of Beresford Dale and then heading back to the start.
