Ashbury Walks & Route Maps

Lovely route! I think we made the right choice in heading right and left into the field, we went through the gate but didnt realise we needed to head down into the slight valley. Was easy enough to get back on track, the walk back up wasn’t too bad at all and no sheep on the way back! I think it would of been harder coming back the way we went down. No issues at all and will be doing the longer version of this walk.

Perfect walk. Made even better with the route taking us past Ashbury Shop and Tea Room. Lovely place to stop and refuel on our back up the hill. Yummy homemade cakes even vega and gluten free and homemade hot food and coffee. Covid Secure and take awayable in fully recyclable or compostible containers and cups. A definitie must for everyones walks.

Great walk - amazing views!

There’s some ambiguity near the start where its not clear whether to continue in the cornfield or go through the gate (do the latter), then we missed the fact the route veers off down the hill, so took a while getting our dot back on the yellow line. This was our first walk with the app, but soon got used to navigating. The path between the church and the Ridgeway was overgrown in places so dont wear shorts as there’s a lot of nettles. Great views and lots of butterflies.

A perfect Sunday walk.

Brilliant walk - loved it! Decent climb up to the Ridgeway but worth it for the views!

After some rain it was muddy on the midway section. Overgrown in places but still passable. Good accurate route and some good views on the hilltops from this walk.

Lovely walk overall. One steep climb but mostly easy. Lots of field walking but also some woodland. Some lovely open spaces and not many people en route during a week day

Enjoyable walk across wide open countryside and Ashdown House is a real treat for the eyes when you come across it. Pretty sure there was a red kite flying over on the hill just after Ashdown House.

Very nice walk with a few suprises to keep the interest.Few little rises but nothing too bad.

Nice walk. Lots of gravel tracks but equally quite a lot of rough grass tracks too. Good to walk but not really suitable for buggies or wheelchairs in parts. Quite a steep climb mid way, and then crossing farm land. Route was accurate taking in the Waylands Smithy and Alfreds Castle. Parking is free but could be busy at peak times.

This is a lovely walk, with great views. I completed this walk on a Sunday and apart from the section on the ridgeway hardly saw a soul. There were a few overgrown paths with nettles so you might want to put on your trousers! No viscious dogs!

Good walk was spoiled by not being able to access the footpath by Odstone Farm and their vicious dogs. I think the farm is deliberately making it difficult which is a shame.

Another slight addition to the smaller walk we did before - we detoured past the pub, the village shop and tea room as enjoyed it so much last week. Also the pub is shut (Covid). Recommend popping to the village shop, the staff there are so friendly and the homemade food and cakes are out of this world. This village is lovely and the walks surrounding the incredible countryside around it draw me back time and time again.

Great walk really easy to follow, lovely pub enroute. Watch out for the barb wire fence thats also a gate to go through.

Did this route today through Ashbury. Great route and see my comments in the 6.25 mile route. 2 big climbs on this route due to the additional distance. Mostly gravel or rough grass tracks. Parking is free but could be busy at peak times.
