Aldbourne Walks & Route Maps

This first walk explores the rolling countryside between Aldbourne and Baydon, offering a satisfying loop through open farmland and gently rising hills.

It’s a route that feels properly rural, with wide skies, quiet paths, and a steady sense of space that makes it ideal for a few unhurried hours outdoors.

Back in Aldbourne, the Blue Boar makes a welcome finishing point, perfect for a relaxed drink or meal after stretching the legs across this peaceful corner of Wiltshire.

This second option heads out into the hilly countryside between Aldbourne and Upper Upham, offering a more demanding loop with plenty of ups and downs along the way.

After the walk, the route returns to Aldbourne, where The Blue Boar in the village provides a well-earned place to pause afterwards, rounding off a challenging but satisfying countryside outing.

Please note, on our longer walks, there is a short section along a fast road at the start and finish of these routes.

This longer walk option heads west from Aldbourne into the open sweep of the Marlborough Downs, delivering a long, demanding route with big climbs and far-reaching views.

Early on, the landscape opens out, with rolling chalk hills and wide skies setting the tone for a serious day on foot.

Later, the route loops around Upper Upham and rises onto Sugar Hill, where the effort is rewarded with some of the best viewpoints in the area.

This is the longest and most demanding route from Aldbourne, a proper epic adventure into the heart of the Marlborough Downs.

Later on, the route swings around Upper Upham, and then climbs Liddington Hill, one of the area’s high points with far-reaching panoramas on clear days.

Finally, you'll walk back towards Aldbourne across Sugar Hill, enjoying wonderful views as you go.
