Medmerry Nature Reserve Walks & Route Maps

This first route through RSPB Medmerry Nature Reserve showcases one of Europe’s largest open-coast habitat creation schemes.

It winds past tidal lagoons, saltmarsh and grassland, where wintering wildfowl and waders can sometimes be spotted.

Easton and Earnley Viewpoints offer sweeping views across the reserve, highlighting the mix of marsh, water and grazing land shaped by the 2013 managed realignment.

The route finishes at Medmerry Beach, where sand, shingle and saltmarsh meet the sea, providing a peaceful spot to watch the tide and the coastal landscape in motion.

This longer walk through RSPB Medmerry Nature Reserve takes you across a mix of tidal lagoons, saltmarsh and grazing marsh.

Ham Viewpoint offers a quieter perspective inland, and later the route reaches Pagham Harbour and its adjoining nature reserve.

Mudflats, reedbeds and shallow lagoons provide year-round habitats for birds, making the area a dynamic mix of water, land and wildlife.

The route also includes the Medmerry Cycle Link, a protected path through open marshland.

A stop at the nearby café gives a chance to rest before continuing through this expansive coastal landscape.
