These walks explore the historic Sussex town of Lewes and the beautiful countryside that surrounds it.
Each route begins with a peaceful section beside the River Ouse before leading you through the characterful streets of the town, passing landmarks like Lewes Castle and the lively High Street with its shops and cafés.
The walks range from a short and easy town outing to much longer adventures that venture out into the surrounding hills.
On the longer routes you’ll head out towards Offham and the sweeping landscapes of the South Downs, with rewarding climbs and far-reaching views from places like Mount Harry and the Blackcap viewpoint before returning to Lewes.

This is a short stroll around the wonderful town of Lewes in East Sussex.
You'll start heading on a riverside stroll along 'Jenner's Way' before looping around and heading back into the town where you'll walk past Lewes Castle and then through the High Street with it's plenty of shops and eateries.

If you have some more time and energy for this walk, this second route option is basically a much longer adventure.
You'll again start with a stroll along the River Ouse, but this time the riverside amble will be much longer and take you all the way to Offham where you'll find a pub for a pit stop if necessary.
After that, you'll climb up the very steep Offham hill and enjoy the views of Landport Bottom before heading back into Lewes via the castle and High Street for well-earned post walk rewards!

This final route is a real strenuous but ultimately rewarding adventure from the pretty town of Lewes.
Like the second route, you'll enjoy the riverside walking alongside the River Ouse, the Castle and High Street of Lewes itself and the hills and views of Landport Bottom.
However, this route much further explores the hills once you get up there, taking you on a lovely adventure west to Mount Harry and the Blackcap viewpoint where you'll enjoy far reaching panoramic views.

Not fully maintained. Bambles overgrown could not follow the full route.
Perfect route, lovely country side and nice little farms ect. The way there is mostly uphill but did not find it too strenous.
