Tarr Steps Walk 1
2.25 miles

This is the shorter route of three Tarr Steps walks we have from this location taking you into the Tarr Steps Nature Reserve, located in Exmoor National Park. This particular route follows the meandering River Barle and winds through beautiful woodlands running parallel to the river. A highlight of the walk is the ancient Tarr Steps, a historic clapper bridge that spans the River Barle. The scenery is simply picturesque, with peaceful riverbanks ideal for a picnic or a relaxing break. The walk passes the charming 'Tarr Farm Inn’, an inviting spot to stop for food and drinks.

Tarr Steps Walk 2
2.5 miles

Our second Tarr Steps walk, offers a blend of riverside walking and sweeping countryside views. While it initially follows a section of the picturesque River Barle, the route soon diverges, leading you away from the water and into the heart of rural Somerset. Here, you'll traverse open fields and gently rolling hills, giving you a real sense of the area's unspoiled beauty. A highlight of the walk is the ancient Tarr Steps, a historic clapper bridge that spans the River Barle. Dating back centuries, this remarkable stone structure adds a touch of heritage and intrigue to the journey.

Tarr Steps Walk 3
5 miles

Our third Tarr Steps walk showcases both the peaceful charm of the river and the wide-open beauty of the countryside, making it a varied and moderately challenging walk. This route also includes a visit to the ancient Tarr Steps. Whether you're interested in history, nature, or just enjoying the outdoors, it's an experience not to be missed. For those looking to pause and soak in the surroundings, the Tarr Farm Inn offers a perfect stop for refreshments.
