Simonsbath Walks & Route Maps

This first walk is a there-and-back linear route following the scenic River Barle through Exmoor National Park.

Starting along a section of the Two Moors Way, a long-distance trail that spans Exmoor and Dartmoor, it offers a mix of rugged moorland, peaceful valleys and some steep sections.

Along the way, you'll pass Flexbarrow, with sweeping views of Exmoor's wild landscapes, and Cow Castle, an ancient Iron Age hillfort nestled in the Barle Valley.

These landmarks blend rich history with stunning natural beauty, making them must-see highlights on this beautiful trail.

This energetic and adventurous walk takes you through some of Exmoor's beautiful hills, following the River Barle.

It shares parts of the route with the first walk, passing Flexbarrow and the historic Iron Age hillfort at Cow Castle.

However, if you're up for a longer and more challenging adventure, this is a circular version of the route that extends further, taking you through open countryside and climbing up the big hills overlooking the river.

With its steep hills and substantial distance, this walk demands plenty of energy, but the breathtaking views across Exmoor's landscapes make the effort well worth it.
