Shilstone Hill Walks & Route Maps

This first route option is the shortest and most direct way to walk to the summit of the Shilstone Hill.

It's a simple 'there-and-back' route with only about 15 metres elevation, so it's not too strenuous whilst giving you great views.

If you have more time and energy and want more of a walk, then this second route is a longer circular adventure.

It takes you on a trek around the top of the moors enjoying views as you go, and you'll reach the summit of Shilstone Hill towards the end of the route.

The third walk is basically an extension to the second walk, that gives you effectively a tale of two hills.

First, you'll take a long trek over the moors until you reach the summit of Malmshead Hill, before heading back towards the summit of Shilstone Hill.

It's a long walk and very exposed to the elements, so please be prepared for the weather conditions on this one!

If you want a full-on epic adventure, then this fourth route is a fantastic option that explores a great chunk of this beautiful area of moorland.

You'll first climb to the top of Shilstone Hill, before heading off on a long walk across the moors and then finally descending down a steep path into the pretty Southern Wood.

After this, you'll visit the little village of Malmsmead where you'll find a welcome cafe for half-way refreshments.

The next section of walking takes you south along the Badgworthy River where there are two options. The orange route takes you along the public right of way, and the red-dotted route strolls you along a riverside path on private land that you can walk on for a small fee.

Finally, it's then time to climb back up into the big hills and head back to the start.
