Somerset Walks
These walks from the tiny village of Malmsmead offer a wonderful way to explore this scenic corner of Exmoor National Park.
The shorter route is a gentle circular stroll through pretty countryside, crossing the Badgworthy Water and returning to the village, while the longer walk takes you further along the river, through Badgworthy Wood, and up onto the open moors for stunning views before winding back through Southern Wood.
For those wanting extra riverside walking, there’s a red-dotted alternative that hugs the river on the way down. Please note this section crosses private land, and an honesty box requests a small fee to use the path.

It takes you on a pretty stroll through countryside with nice views, before crossing the Badgworthy Water river and heading back up to the village through more pretty countryside.

If you have much more time and energy, then this second route is a fabulous adventure in this dramatic part of the Exmoor National Park.
The start of the route heads south along the Badgworthy Water River and then Badgworthy Wood, before climbing you up into the moors where you'll enjoy some walking with wonderful views all around you.
The last section of the walk then takes you into the Southern Wood for some more woodland walking before getting back to the village where a lovely cafe awaits.
