The walk
Clatworthy Reservoir Walk
This lovely 8km walk is perfect for the whole family and takes you around the picturesque Clatworthy Reservoir, nestled in the peaceful, rural Brendon Hills on the edge of Exmoor National Park.
Please note that dogs are not allowed at Clatworthy Reservoir except for assistance dogs.
The area is known for its rich biodiversity, making it a great spot for nature lovers. Keep an eye out for bird species like herons, buzzards, and various waterfowl including geese, grebes and swans.
The surrounding woodlands are home to wildlife such as deer, rabbits, and badgers. Depending on the season, you'll also see plenty of beautiful wildflowers.
The route follows grassy footpaths along the reservoir, offering superb views of the water, rolling hills, countryside, and woodlands. You'll pass through the stunning Clatworthy Wood, where you'll find trees like beech, oak, silver birch, and rowan.
