Tucked away in the wooded hills of Somerset, these walks around Croydon Hill offer a choice of peaceful woodland adventures to suit all energy levels. From a shorter, gentler loop through the trees to longer and more strenuous routes exploring Timberscombe Common and the wider forest, the walks gradually build in distance and challenge while showcasing the beauty of this vast woodland.
The longest option ventures beyond the woods into a hidden valley to discover the ruins of the lost village of Clicket before continuing to Timberscombe, where you can enjoy well-earned refreshments at The Lion Inn. With hills to climb and quiet forest paths throughout, these walks are ideal for those who love a rewarding day immersed in nature.

This first route is a short loop of walking around the vast woodlands that cover Croydon Hill.
Whilst there are some inclines on this walk, this route is a lot less strenuous than the other options we have from this car park, so it might be more suitable for some walkers.

This second route longer than the first route, and also has more hills to climb, making it a more strenuous adventure in the woodlands that you'll find on Croydon Hill.
You'll enjoy a lot more of this wonderful woodland though and a stretch walking alongside the Timberscombe Common.

The third route option offers another extension to the second route, giving you a much longer adventure if you have more time and energy.
This route enjoys everything from the second route, but you'll also embark on a long loop of woodland walking around the croydon hill itself.

The final route option was inspired by one of our facebook community members and gives you an epic adventure from this car park in Croydon Hill woods.
Like the third route, you'll enjoy a long woodland walk around the hill and it's woods. However, half way around, you'll exit the woods and then descend down into a big valley where you'll eventually discover the ruins of the lost village of Clicket.
After exploring the ruins, you'll head north along the valley until you reach the more active village of Timberscombe where there's a pub for well-earned refreshments.
Finally, you'll climb back up into the woods through Timberscombe Common and back to the start point.
