Set within the rolling beauty of the Quantock Hills in Somerset, these walks from Crowcombe Park offer everything from a shorter hilly circuit around Black Hill to longer, more demanding adventures across exposed ridgelines and wooded valleys.

With routes taking in Bicknoller Post, Beacon Hill, tranquil woodland such as Adder Wood and riverside stretches through quiet combes, the walks reward your efforts with sweeping views and varied scenery throughout. The longest option even includes a welcome halfway stop at The Plough, but do check the weather and opening times as these hilltop routes can be long and exposed.

The walks from the Crowcombe Park car park are all lovely hilly walks around the beautiful Quantock Hills.

This first route is a short stroll that takes you around Black Hill. It's a hilly area, so you'll need energy for this one, but this first route is a lot less strenuous than the other routes, so it might be more suitable for some walkers.

This second walk is a lot more strenuous than the first, but it packs in so much more to reward you for your efforts.

You'll enjoy a lot of walking around the exposed Quantock Hills before entering into Somerton Woods where you'll then enjoy a beautiful riverside stroll along the valley.

After a while you'll then climb a steep hill out of the woods and walk back towards the start atop the Higher Hare Knap hill that offers wonderful views as you walk.

If you have a lot more energy for a workout, and want to spend more time out in the exposed beauty of the Quantock Hills, then this third route is a great option for you.

It takes you over a number of different exposed hills as you travel to the north until you eventually reach the summit of Bicknoller post for some great vierws.

At that point, you'll then start heading back to the east for a walk through Adder Wood and alongside the pretty valley with a river and woodland for company as you head back to the south.

Finally, there are some more open hills with lovely views to tackle before arriving back at the start.

Our final option is an epic adventure in this beautiful area of the Quantock Hills that gives the ultimate exercise, varied adventure and throws in a pub for half way refreshments.

Like the third route, it heads to the north over various hilltops until you eventually reach Beacon Hill which then offers you spectacular views for miles around.

After that, you'll head east over more exposed hilltops until you eventually walk through Alfoxton Park and then descend into the village of Holford where you'll find a pub for refreshments and a well earned break.

You'll then embark on a walk over more open hilltops, before descending into Adder Wood and then walking south alongside the pretty valley with a river and woodland for company.

Finally, there are some more open hills with lovely views to tackle before arriving back at the start.

This is a long and exposed walk on the hill tops, so please check the weather and pub opening times if you are relying on them for refreshments.
