Somerset Walks
Set on the edge of Exmoor in Somerset, the walks around Luxborough explore a varied mix of woodland, hills, and sheltered valleys.
These walks include some steeper sections, with terrain that shifts between wooded slopes and more open ground.
The short walk stays closer to the local woods and the quieter valley of Perley Combe, while the longer route ranges further across Black Hill, Rodhuish Common, and other surrounding hills, with more demanding climbs along the way.
Both walks finish in Luxborough, where the Royal Oak Inn offers a welcome place to relax afterwards.

Walk information
The first Luxborough walk takes you though woodland and open areas on the edge of Exmoor.
Areas like Roadway Wood, Croydon Hill Wood and Monks Wood bring a mix of different trees and the walk has some steeper sections adding a bit of challenge.
The route also dips into the sheltered valley of Perley Combe and finishes with the option of a stop at a local pub.

This second walk is a longer and more challenging route from Luxborough.
It has a mix of woodland, open hills and traditional common land, passing through areas like Roadway Wood and Croydon Hill Wood before climbing higher to Black Hill and the wide, open feel of Rodhuish Common.
The route then drops into the sheltered valley of Druid’s Combe Wood, where the terrain becomes much steeper, before continuing through woodland such as Birchen Wood.
A local pub at the end offers a welcome place to rest after this varied and more demanding walk.
