Monken Hadley Walk 2

Walk distance
4½ miles
Time
2 hours
Route type
Circular

This second route option is basically an extended version of the Hadley Woods walk for those of you with a bit more time to explore this wonderful common.

The extra distance takes you on a loop through more woodland and visits the pretty St Mary's church in Hadley. This extra section is also a bit hilly, so this will allow you to work up an even bigger appetite for the nice pub that you'll find on the far end of the route.

I must admit that neither of us were enjoying the first 3 miles of this walk. Whilst it looked nice on the map, it was an absolute mudfest. As we climbed the hill on the north side of Hadley Wood, our boots were sinking into the mud up to our ankles. The walk was redeemed by calling into the excellent Cock Inn Freehouse and a very easy, pleasant walk back to the car.

Start point is within the ULEZ now, so we parked at the far left of the map to avoid it. Brilliant walk; slow inclines to get your heart going, but not too strenuous. Lovely woodland ground cover most of the walk.

Had a great walk on a lovely Sunday afternoon in July

A lovely walk, the 4.5 walk took 2 hours with my 7 year old. Beautiful woodland with bluebells on route and saw some wild creatures. Some benches near the lake for sitting with packed lunch.
