Sandhurst Hill Walk & Route Map

The walk was very over grown and parts not passable

Walk is not 4.25 , its 4.75 miles , would be very overgrown in winter , not much river walking

Not much shelter and when in the woodland, the paths were very overgrown and spikey! Walking through the wildflower field was a huge treat!

Lovely varied walk, lots of shade on sunny day. Thankfully no cows in fields next to river on day we walked!

Sat 25 April - very nice mornings walk just me and two dogs in the sun. Just be aware that along the river section there was a herd of cattle that were very interested in us.

We really enjoyed this walk. The woods was full of bluebells which was a nice suprise. The ground was dry. Great views. The Red Lion Pub did a lovely sunday lunch.

Any issues with flooding have now been resolved as of April 2026. Lovely walk with great views of the river and surrounding landscape

March 2026 the fields by the river are flooded and you cant complete this route. A section of the map shows a footpath but this is incorrect and is a farm track only. We spoke to a local farmer who was out in the fields and he has had issues with walkers cutting across his land due to the flooding. Until the water has gone down you will not be able to complete the loop without going back on your tracks and not across farmland. Very very muddy and slippery underfoot.

Lovely walk fantastic views.

Beautiful views of river, rolling countryside, ponds. Not difficult except a small section near beginning or end depending which way round you do it. One of our favourites so far.

17/6/25 - beautiful summers day, fantastic views at the top of the hill. Downside...not many place for dogs to get to the river to cool down.

A long hill to climb but gorgeous views when you fet go the top. A nice bench and table half way round the walk ideal for sandwiches and a drink. Love this walk though be aware of the herd of cattle in the lower field.
