Wiltshire Walks
These walks explore the countryside around Broad Chalke in the Ebble Valley, linking riverside meadows with the surrounding chalk downs and nearby villages.
The landscape is varied throughout, with gentle valley paths contrasting with higher ground around Gurston and Knapp Downs, where the views open out across this part of Wiltshire.
Depending on the route, the walks also pass through or between Broad Chalke, Fifield Bavant and Croucheston, giving a real sense of local character as you move between open fields, hilltop viewpoints and quieter valley stretches.
All three walks finish back in Broad Chalke, where The Queens Head offers a welcoming place to relax, with The White Hart in Bishopstone available as an additional stop on the longest route.

Walk information
This is a lovely walk between the villages of Broad Chalke and Fifield Bavant.
The walk tracks the meadows of the River Ebble for a while and it also climbs some of Knowle Hill where you can expect some nice views.
There is also a short section of road walking to be aware of on this route.

Pleasant farmland walk - great downland views - muddy damp in some river sections
Lovely walk on well kept tracks with some great views of the downs. Good for dogs although some lead walking required. Easy to follow route with a very short section of quiet road walking. No stiles and wellies definitely needed in wet weather for the valley section through low lieing meadows. Great pub with good food.
Lovely walk with a couple of small hills, beautiful village.
This is s beautiful walk, really recommend it. Little tiny bridges crossing streams. Definitely need wellies or waterproof walking boots during the winter months as very muddy and boggy in areas. Thouroughly enjoyed this walk and intend to do it again in the springtime. Map/directions spot on.
Great village shop and cafe at the start of the walk as well as the pub.
No styles, but a few kissing gates. Path midway round was very overgrown, recommend long trousers (not shorts) to protect legs. Lovely views, welcoming pub (seating out front and out back). Enjoyable walk.
Nice walk though overgrown in parts. Several roads and fields of livestock so dogs need to be on a lead for quite a bit.

Some lovely open views but others quite restricted by foliage. Long straight sections somewhat monotonous - not much variation in countryside during the walk.
Gorgeous views. Nice varied walk. Cute old church to visit....

You will climb up onto the downs around the area for some beautiful views, walk alongside the River Ebble in the valley and visit the villages of Broad Chalke and Croucheston.

Some nice bits but a fairly boring walk. Very long stretches on flat track with trees either side obscuring the view. Barely saw the river - mostly private riverbank. Not worth the distance
